Jim Rooney dropped out of graduate studies in the classics to live a musical life, and he never looked back. He played in Cambridge, Mass., with Bill Keith, until Keith joined Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys, and continues to perform whenever the opportunity arises, as well as producing albums for top artists like John Prine, Iris DeMent, and Nanci Griffith.
